Did you know that a group of women, organised by Ann Pettit, walked from Cardiff to Greenham Common in Berkshire in August 1981? Their collective response to the siting of American cruise missiles at an air base on British soil was the start of a female solidarity movement that would reach far and wide. A new women's peace movement commencing with the Women for Life on Earth march was born and sustained at Greenham Common Peace Camp.
Join us and our speakers including Professor Madeleine Gray and Councillor Sue Lent for what promises to be a wonderful event to find out more and / or share your memories of Greenham.
Dr Rachel Lock Lewis is a co-convener of the Our Chartist Heritage Women's History Group. The aim of the group is to create opportunities for public audiences to learn about the history of women in south-east Wales.
