More prize-winning History from USW

USW historian Chris Evans has been awarded the 2016 Douglass Adair Memorial Award of the Omohundro Institute of Early American History and Culture for his article ‘The plantation hoe: the rise and fall of an Atlantic commodity’, which appeared in The William & Mary Quarterly in 2012.

The Douglass Adair Memorial Award is given biennially to the best article to have been published in The William & Mary Quarterly over a six-year period.

University of South Wales historian Chris Evans has been awarded a visiting fellowship by the Filson Historical Society, Kentucky. Evans will visit the Society’s Louisville headquarters later this year to work on his project ?Escaping from Slavery in the Nineteenth Century: George St Leger Grenfell in Civil War Kentucky?.
