USW historian Chris Evans has been awarded the 2016 Douglass Adair Memorial Award of the Omohundro Institute of Early American History and Culture for his article ‘The plantation hoe: the rise and fall of an Atlantic commodity’, which appeared in The William & Mary Quarterly in 2012.
The Douglass Adair Memorial Award is given biennially to the best article to have been published in The William & Mary Quarterly over a six-year period.

USW historian Chris Evans has won the Jack Temple Kirby Award for 2013. The Kirby Award is made by the Southern Historical Association (http://sha.uga.edu/) for the best work in agricultural or environmental history published in 2011 or 2012.
