The Phoney War: Battling Boredom

February 4, 2010

Laure Humbert, a member of Glamorgan’s Outcast Europe team, has defended her MA (Res) dissertation on the mobilisation of French intellectual opinion during ?la guerre introuvable?, the Phoney War, 1939–40.

Laure’s supervisors were Dr Fiona Reid and Dr Sharif Gemie. The examiners, Professor Martin Thomas (Exeter) and Dr Brian Ireland (Glamorgan), were highly impressed by this original contribution to our understanding of responses to German aggression early in the Second World War. Read more about Laure’s project here.
