Morgan Watkins, A Quaker Voice on the English Borders

USW’s Erica Canela will be presenting a paper at the History of Christianity Postgraduate Conference entitled “Morgan Watkins (d. 1675), A Quaker Voice on the English Borders” at New College, University of Edinburgh.

This paper will examine the work of Herefordshire Quaker spokesman and polemicist, Morgan Watkins, providing insight into the early Quaker movement in rural Herefordshire in the 1660s.

Erica is a second year part-time PhD candidate in History at the University of South Wales. Her thesis is entitled ‘Rural Quakerism: The Religious Society of Friends in Herefordshire and Worcestershire c.1650 – c.1720’ and she is under the supervision of Dr Richard C. Allen.
